Facilitating Dialogue about applied science

On campus and beyond, the Parlee Center facilitates thoughtful conversation about and engagement with interdisciplinary science-and-society themes such as:

  • artificial intelligence
  • climate change
  • energy security
  • environmental challenges
  • food and water security
  • global health
  • healthcare disparities

Taking action on the nexus of science & Society

Open to students from all majors, our program engages the Ursinus community in conversations about responsible innovation, ensuring that scientific and technological progress benefits society while minimizing harm. The Parlee Center supports:

  • a speaker series that brings to campus civically engaged scientists and science-minded professionals;
  • a student Fellows program to shape responsible leaders in science, technology, and innovation;
  • multimedia platforms that allow students to practice science communication to diverse audiences;
  • opportunities for students to engage with real-world organizations working at the nexus of science and society, including through consultation projects;
  • the FUTURE summer research program, in which students from groups under-represented in science are guided by faculty and upper-class student mentors;
  • new courses and internships at the intersection of science and society.
