Ursinus’s proximity to numerous historical sites gives students countless opportunities to take history beyond the classroom and gain real-world experience. Right down the road from campus in Historic Trappe, Landon Conrad ’28, Maci Dobbins-Timochenko ’25 and biology professor Rebecca Roberts (pictured) are all docents, or volunteer tour guides, at the Speaker’s House (home of the first U.S. Speaker of the House, Frederick Muhlenberg), sharing the stories of our area’s historic sites with visitors.
Informed citizens, impacting the future

History provides insights into how past events, decisions, and movements have shaped the world today. By understanding the roots of current social, political, and economic systems, our students better grasp present-day challenges and seek future solutions.
Ursinus students interested in history, don’t have to travel far to explore Valley Forge National Historical Park (~15 minutes) and the many landmarks near and in Philadelphia, like Independence Hall and the Museum of the American Revolution.
