Social Sciences at Ursinus

The Sports and Humanity APEX Hub encourages students to think critically about the role of sports in society. Experiences such as visiting the Xfinity Mobile Arena to hear a panel featuring employees of the Philadelphia Flyers give students the opportunity to explore these questions in real-world settings.
The Ursinus College Investment Management Company (UCIMCO) is a one-credit course open to all students interested in learning about investing. The group manages three funds on behalf of Ursinus College.
Ursinus College provides many pathways to internships. Lily Nagy ’26 spent the Fall 2025 semester interning with Vizion Group Public Relations, an experience that culminated in helping produce The National Dog Show by Purina on Thanksgiving.
Experiential Learning Week is a cornerstone of the APEX learning ecosystem at Ursinus College, giving students the opportunity to shadow and engage with regional employers, work on campus or community projects, or travel nationally or internationally for global career exploration.
Professor of Environmental Studies Patrick Hurley and Kaelin Ryan ’26 harvest pawpaws from a tree in t he Ursinus Food Forest. The Food Forest is a student-created, student-led living-learning laboratory for sustainable land management at Ursinus College.
Through a blend of theory and hands-on experience, the Media and Communication Studies major empowers students to become skilled communicators and thoughtful analysts of media’s role in shaping society.

Model UN offers students the opportunity to engage in cooperative, hands-on learning during the five-day National Model United Nations Conference in New York City. Ursinus College has participated in the conference since 1966.
Through the TV studio in Ritter Hall, Ursinus students assist Athletics with the broadcast and production of the college’s sporting events. Roles include producer, camera operator, and play-by-play and color commentator.
